DOES SOCIAL MEDIA AND THE INTERNET DEPRIVE US OF OUR PRIVACY?
Perhaps one of the greatest innovations of
the past decade has been the advent of social media. Today, almost any
individual can reconnect with a long-lost friend, share photos and videos, and
even carry out their daily tasks online. Yet, the advantages of social media
and the Internet itself come with a price, our privacy. ”The Internet is transforming from a tool of liberation and expression
to one of oppression and control.”[1]
A source of information that was created in hopes of ‘saving’ the world is instead
‘corrupting’ it and abusing its power to control it.
